Les Pépinières: Development of an office complex in Flon Lausanne
Since the end of the 1990ies LO-group has been creating a new centre of Lausanne by gradually developing the Flon district, cleverly combining the existing buildings and their industrial character with contemporary architecture.
Construction of a building complex with three properties on the last available lot of land in the district south of the central square, the Esplanade du Flon. Due to the exposed position the use is aimed at the general public. The future use for leisure activities and restaurants will revive the Esplanade around-the-clock.
Buildings A and B are rented to the academy of music (Musikhochschule HEMU). The classrooms and practise rooms will be located on the upper floors where as the ground and basement floors will be occupied by a concert hall for classical as well a contemporary music holding 266 visitors.
Building B hosts restaurant and office areas as well as the access to the bowling premises in the basement floor.
A disco, restaurants and a bar will be located in the main building. Its rooftop offers a lush green zone that is accessible to the general public.
